It was my dad’s 80^th birthday and instead of gifting him another shaving kit or jacket or some other mundane gift, I thought I would ask him if he would like anything in particular. Frankly I expected him to say he did not need anything and so, I was quite surprised when he said he wanted a watch to replace the one he was currently wearing.

By full I mean, it does not just say “Mon” instead, it displays “Monday”. Moreover, the watch had a rich leather strap. In other words, it had everything my dad asked for.

Coming from Orient, the watch was obviously high quality. The mineral crystal will ensure resistance to scratches. My dad has this routine of reading the newspaper while sitting at the dining table. He finds it more comfortable there. But downside is, he keeps the newspaper flat on the table and his hands too on the table. This I think, results in the watch face coming in contact with the table surface and therefore, more prone to getting scratched. So, the mineral crystal should help.

The Orient Contemporary Automatic RA-AX0007L0HB Men’s Watch has 22 jewels. Technically, this makes the movement smoother and therefore, more accurate. My dad would love this watch. Another huge plus point is that the watch was self-winding. Which was perfect so my dad did not have to remember to wind the watch.

I bought the watch and on arrival, checked it out and carefully gift wrapped it. The birthday party went well with all our family members in attendance. As expected, my dad loved the watch.
