Orient Automatic FAL00001W0 Men’s Watch

Orient Automatic FAL00001W0 Men’s Watch

My wife Katrina loves a bargain deal and when she was offered a 50% introductory discount at a new saloon at the mall, she gave me that heart-melting “please can I?” kind of look. What can I say? I agreed.

So, while my wife was having a facial, I strolled over to the neighbouring shop which happened to be a watch store. On display right near the entrance was this awesome looking timepiece by Orient. “It’s the latest model” the salesman said. Hawk-eyed and totally silent, I didn’t even realise he was there.

Observing my interest in the Orient watch, he lifted it off the stand and offered it to me. The watch felt heavy but not too heavy. It had two strips of gold-plated links in the stainless-steel bracelet and the white dial had golden hour markers and hands that struck me as classic and modern at the same time; modern, due to the pyramid-tear drop shape of the hour markers.

What had actually caught my eye was the sub-dial on the left side of the watch that displayed the day of the week. There was the date window at the classic 3’Oclock position. The sub dial (with a golden circle around it), and the date window were large enough so I did not have to squint with my arm roughly a foot away from my eyes.

The display unit that held the watch, had a card next to it that read “Orient Automatic FAL00001W0 Men’s Watch”. I also noticed that this Orient watch had the beautiful Orient logo at the bottom of the dial and below the logo, it said “automatic”. “What is automatic?” I asked the salesman.

“Sir, it does not require a battery. Instead, it converts arm movements into electricity that charges an internal battery” said the salesman. Cool, I thought to myself; very environmentally friendly.

The Orient Automatic FAL00001W0 Men’s Watch was quite large; am guessing about 4 cm across. “It’s 42 mm Sir” said the salesman. “You can read my thoughts?” I asked. “No Sir, but I saw you using your finger to measure the case diameter” he said smiling. “You are very observant and smart” I said and he beamed his pleasure.

At the very bottom of the dial face, it said “Japanese movement”. Thank God for small things I thought; at least this is not Chinese made. I asked the salesman if the watch was water proof. “Yes Sir, up to 50 meters” he replied. Awesome; I thought to myself, at least I won’t have to remove it when I join my friend Atkinson at our Sunday morning swim sessions.

I handed the watch back and strolled over to a cushioned sofa near the checkout counter. As I sat there, I Googled the net searching for Orient Automatic FAL00001W0 Men’s Watch and sure enough, got hundreds of hits.

One such had a small photo of the watch with a price tag of €139 (the price tag here in the mall had displayed €300+ so, over 50% discount! Awesome, I thought to myself as I clicked the Google link and visited this page: /product/orient-automatic-fal00001w0-mens-watch/

I checked out the site, reviews and so forth. Everything was good so went ahead and bought it. Today was a good day; my wife got 50% off and so did I. Love it!!
