ICE Aqua Marine Large Chronograph Quartz 012734 Men’s Watch

In 2007 Belgian entrepreneur Jean-Pierre Lutgen created the Ice Watch brand with the idea of “change”. Indeed, the brand has brought something very different to the watch industry. The Ice watch is a burst of colour on your wrist, a trendy stylish accessory that stands out and creates an impression. These colourful timepieces are versatile, well built, good quality watches that are very affordable.

With the brilliant colour palette and different styles available in the ICE brand of watches, you might be spoilt for choice. Well, that is what happened with me… I thought Ice watches make for a great gifting idea particularly for youngsters.

With that idea in mind, I searched for a men’s Ice watch for my son Danny who would be starting out as football coach at our local high school very soon. Red, green, blue, yellow, purple, there were Ice watches in all kinds of colour combinations, each looking better than the last. It took me a while to settle for the ICE Aqua Marine Large Chronograph Quartz 012734 Men’s Watch.

The Ice Aqua Marine 012734 is a smart, sporty looking watch and stands out due to its unique colour – it is a deep, rich blue from dial to the strap, reminding you of the navy and seafarers. The polyamide case encloses a blue dial with contrasting white markers. The analog display is all white bold Arabic numerals. The dial may appear a tad crowded with three dials, but then these are related to its chronograph function.

The hour, minute and seconds hand of the ICE Aqua Marine are also in contrasting white. In certain positions, the white hands may be a tad difficult to read against the white circular stopwatch dials for those with weak vision. But this wouldn’t be an issue for youngsters. Hands and markers are luminous to allow you to easily read the time in the dark.

At 44 mm case diameter, this is a chunky watch although not overly so. The silicone band is blue on the outside, white inside and feels smooth on the skin. The mineral crystal on the dial is scratch resistant and clear. The central crown allows adjustment to the date and time while the other two crowns assist with chronograph function. Ice Aqua Marine 012734 is water resistant up to 10 meters depth.

With a Japanese quartz movement, the ICE Aqua Marine Large Chronograph Quartz 012734 Men’s Watch is a reliable timepiece, durable enough to last for a few years. And, as I said, it makes for an excellent gift item with its cute but classy presentation box. Danny loved the watch and wears it almost every other day.
